What syncs (and what does not)

Use this page to set correct expectations for your team and accountant.

Supported (in scope)

Data Direction When
Customers Shopify → e-conomic When customers are created or updated in Shopify
Products Shopify → e-conomic When products are created or updated in Shopify
Orders Shopify → e-conomic When the selected order trigger matches (see Orders)

Each synced Shopify order creates one e-conomic document (sales order draft or invoice, depending on settings). The app remembers that link so the same order is not created twice.

Not supported (out of scope)

The following are not synced automatically. Handle them in e-conomic (or manually in Shopify) unless a future app version states otherwise.

Item Notes
Refunds Refunds on Shopify do not create credit notes or adjust invoices in e-conomic
Order edits Quantity, price, or line changes after the first sync are not pushed
Cancellations Cancelling an order in Shopify does not cancel the e-conomic document
e-conomic → Shopify No sync of prices, inventory, or customers from e-conomic back to Shopify
Returns (Shopify Returns) Not part of the current order pipeline
Draft orders Shopify draft checkout flows may differ from standard orders

Tip: The same limitations are shown in Sync settings → Order → Rule sync under “Current scope.”

One document per Shopify order

When an order successfully syncs:

  1. The app stores a link between the Shopify order ID and the e-conomic document.
  2. Later updates for that order are skipped as already synced (this is normal, not an error).

Duplicate protection

The app is designed to avoid duplicate documents for the same Shopify order. If you need a different document after a mistake, fix or delete it in e-conomic; the app will not automatically replace it on the next Shopify event.

Multi-currency

If Shopify sends presentment currency on orders, the app can use the customer's checkout currency and amounts on the e-conomic document (see Orders).

Before you go live

  1. Confirm e-conomic is connected on Integration home.
  2. Set product default group if you sync products or use “ensure missing products” on orders.
  3. Agree on order trigger and invoice vs sales order with your accountant.
  4. Run a test order and check Webhook logs.
